The Brief

“Our signs are inconsistent. Do you have any ideas about how we can do this better?”

The Royal Grammar School, Guildford were in a typical situation. Over the years their signs had been added piecemeal, with different designs and in various states of repair.

Following an extensive period of site visits and consultation we created a master plan for their external signs that tied in with their school brand and that could be easily rolled out across their site in a phased approach.

The Result

The new signs all follow the same design language, which provides a consistent style for visitors across all sites. Each type of sign has it’s own format as part of the overall concept, with warning signs adopting the RGS red and informational and way-finding signs carrying the signature RGS green.

By carefully thinking through every detail, down to how to attach warning signs without visible fixings, we delivered a suite of signs that are more informative, easier to read, and more representative of the RGS brand.
