Wisdom grows in quiet spaces.

Following on from our previous post highlighting the importance of design in schools and the positive impact that it has on students, this month we are further exploring different ways in which we can implement design elements to create inviting spaces that encourage certain behaviours and enrich the learning experience.

Read between the lines.

If there’s one thing we should encourage children to do more of, it’s reading.

Whilst there is no denying the advantages of the digital age we are a part of these days, there are many developmental benefits provided by reading that can’t be matched by a screen.

To help encourage children to dive headfirst into reading, creating an allocated space which welcomes them in and mimics the magic and wonder that lay between the pages is a brilliant way to inspire them to read.

Reading has been proven to help children progress in the development of empathy, cognitive function, self esteem, vocabulary and imagination.

By providing a designated area to read in, you provide an opportunity for children to fully immerse themselves in the world their imaginations (in conjunction with the author and/or storyteller) create, by eliminating distractions and external stimulus, and offering up a quiet, safe space.

Courthouse Green School showcases a great example of setting up a dynamic, dedicated area for reading, incorporating parachute ceilings and a range of shape cuts, vinyl wall graphics and 3D books in their reading corner.

Turn a new leaf.

We have helped countless education providers set their students up for success through altering their surroundings.
We have a number of downloadable brochures for our Wonderwall™ range which go into further detail on this quick, easy and customisable option for your space.
If you would like to be one of the next in line, we welcome any questions and conversations, and look forward to discussing all the ways in which we can transform your area and bring inspiration to your students.
